On May 31, 2010, the third extension of the ex-employee COBRA health insurance subsidy expired. Initially passed on February 13, 2009 as part of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, the subsidy provided involuntarily terminated employees with a 65 percent reduction of COBRA premiums.
