On October 19, 2020, Oregon Health Authority announced revised guidance on face coverings.
The new guidance requires that people wear face coverings in all private and public workplaces including classrooms, offices, meeting rooms, and workspaces, unless someone is alone in an office or in a private workspace.
The guidance also states that face coverings/masks are recommended in place of face shields because face shields are not as effective at limiting the release of aerosols. The use of face shields alone should only be done in cases where wearing a mask or other face covering is not feasible, e.g., when a person has a medical condition that prevents them from wearing a mask or when communicating with someone who is hearing impaired and needs to read lips.
