Each individual employee has their way of doing things—some of which not everyone in each generation will agree with. As an example, a tenured employee who is not familiar with using cloud-based applications may frown upon a right-out-of-college employee who happens to spend a large percentage of time using these types of tools. Conversely, a younger employee may be puzzled to find that seasoned employees aren’t leveraging technology in their day-to-day work to either create efficiencies with current processes or access a new opportunity/reach new markets.
The generational gap in the workplace is getting wider right before our eyes. The question we should ask ourselves though is, “how can we spin this into an opportunity and leverage the strengths of each generation of employees?” We should not see the gap as a threat and try to “solve” what on the surface may appear like a problem needing to be fixed. Each generation has value to add, and it is a wasted opportunity if they don’t communicate, share knowledge and work together to solve business problems for customers.
On November 6th, Rick Thomas, President of Activate Leadership will speak directly on this topic. Here are the learning objectives:
- Understand the cultural differences between generations and how to leverage them.
- Learn the ONE thing that cuts through the texting, low-attention span and lack of commitment.
- Grasp why it’s your responsibility to take action!
