Belinda leads Xenium’s Benefits team, which covers everything from open enrollment and COBRA to leave-related benefits and compliance. She brings structure to some of the most technical work we do, and she genuinely enjoys turning a complicated problem into something simpler. What stands out to me is how she keeps the person on the other end of every transaction in view. In this spotlight, she shares the winding path that led her to Xenium, the open enrollment improvements she’s proudest of, and why benefits so often become personal.
What’s your role at Xenium, what led you here, and what energizes you most?
I am the Benefits Supervisor at Xenium, where I lead our Benefits team and help ensure our clients and their employees receive accurate, timely, and meaningful support with their benefit programs. My team manages everything from open enrollment and benefit administration to COBRA, leave-related benefits, compliance requirements, and process improvement initiatives.
My career path wasn’t a straight line. Over the years, I discovered that what I enjoy most is solving complex problems, improving processes, and helping people understand benefits that can have a significant impact on their lives. Those interests ultimately led me to Xenium, where I found an organization that values service, innovation, and continuous improvement.
What energizes me most is knowing that our work makes a difference. Whether we’re helping a client navigate a difficult situation, improving a process that saves hours of manual work, or ensuring an employee receives the benefits they need during an important life event, those moments remind me why I love what I do.
What shifts in HR and payroll have shaped you most?
The increasing use of technology and automation has been one of the biggest shifts I’ve seen. While technology has made many processes more efficient, it has also highlighted the importance of maintaining the human element. Benefits and payroll can be highly technical, but at the center of every transaction is a person who relies on us for support, guidance, and accuracy. Learning how to balance innovation with exceptional service has been incredibly impactful in my career.
What trends or challenges should clients watch?
The growing complexity of benefits administration continues to be a challenge. Regulations, compliance requirements, leave laws, and employee expectations are constantly evolving. Clients should also pay attention to employee experience and communication. Employees want benefits that are easy to understand and access, and organizations that invest in clear communication and strong benefit strategies will be better positioned to attract and retain talent.
Looking ahead, I think we’ll continue to see more integration between technology, data, and benefits administration. Organizations that embrace process improvements while keeping the employee experience front and center will have the greatest success.
What project, milestone, or moment are you most proud of?
One accomplishment I’m particularly proud of is helping our team identify and implement process improvements that simplify open enrollment and benefits administration for both clients and internal teams. Finding ways to eliminate manual work, improve accuracy, and create a better experience for everyone involved has had a meaningful impact on efficiency and service delivery. I’m especially proud of the collaborative approach our team takes to solving challenges and continuously looking for better ways to serve our clients.
What advice would you give someone entering the industry today?
Never stop learning. Benefits, payroll, and HR are constantly changing, and the most successful professionals stay curious and adaptable. Also, take time to understand the “why” behind processes and regulations, not just the steps. When you understand the bigger picture, you can solve problems more effectively and provide greater value to clients and colleagues.
What’s a meaningful experience you’ve had with a client?
The experiences that stay with me most are often the ones where benefits become deeply personal. Helping a client support an employee through a major life event, illness, or family situation reminds me that benefits are much more than plans and paperwork. Being able to help provide clarity and reassurance during stressful times reinforces the importance of what we do and the trust our clients place in us.
How do you hope your role continues to grow?
I hope to continue growing as a leader while expanding my strategic knowledge of benefits administration and process improvement. I’m particularly interested in finding innovative ways to leverage technology, streamline workflows, and enhance the client experience. What excites me most is the opportunity to develop people, strengthen our team, and help shape solutions that make a meaningful impact for both our clients and employees.
What would surprise your coworkers to learn about you?
Many people know me as someone who enjoys structure and process, but they might be surprised to learn how much I enjoy problem-solving and figuring out new ways to improve how things work. I genuinely enjoy taking a complicated challenge and turning it into a simpler, more efficient solution.
How would you describe your work style in three words?
Collaborative. Accountable. Strategic.
Those three words reflect how I approach leadership, support my team, and work with clients to find practical solutions that create lasting value.
