The Department of Labor has updated the effective date of the Federal Families First Coronavirus Response Act to April 1, 2020. This has caught many by surprise because the Act states the leave provisions “shall take effect not later than 15 days after the date of enactment” and the Act was signed by President Trump on March 18, 2020. The DOL did not provide a reason for the change but there is speculation it was done in order to align the effective date of the law with the calendar quarter.

The DOL also published the poster that employers are required to post and provide to employees to notify them of their rights under the Families First Coronavirus Response Act.Download the poster
