Kara Ostgard

Title
Benefit Plan Administrator

Education
B.A. in Psychology, University of Georgia; M.S. in Industrial-Organizational Psychology, Valdosta State University

Kara is a behind-the-scenes magician when it comes to administering Xenium’s benefit plans, helping with compliance, and supporting the Benefits Specialists, who are working directly with our clients.

She brings 15 years of experience to her role at Xenium, which she started in August of 2021. Prior to that, she worked most recently at Northwest Regional ESD, and before that at Virginia Garcia Memorial Health Center as a “one-woman show” in benefits. She then joined the benefits team at Qorvo, where she added large company/international experience to her resume.

Kara has a solid foundation in psychology, having earned her BA in Psychology at the University of Georgia and her MS in Industrial-Organizational Psychology at Valdosta State University. She was born and raised in Oregon but moved to Georgia during her high school years and stayed through grad school. She’s always felt more at home in the Pacific Northwest, so is happy to be back in Oregon.

In her spare time, she spends time with her Greyhound, Trent. The two of them volunteer at Greyhound Pet Adoption Northwest, with her dog working as a “floor model” at events held to introduce the breed to people who want to learn more.

She also loves to watch gentle competition shows from the UK. Most people know about the Great British Bake Off, but Kara has a much broader appreciation for the shows where people also compete in pottery, flower arranging, and jewelry making!
