Sam O’Neil brings a unique blend of people-focused experience to Xenium’s Employee Experience team. Born and raised in Boise, Idaho, Sam has called Oregon home since 2015. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Portland State University, after beginning his academic journey at the University of Idaho and later attending Portland Community College where he discovered his passion for sociology.
Before joining Xenium, Sam spent a decade in the service industry, developing strong interpersonal skills and a natural ability to connect with people. After college, he transitioned into ad tech sales, working at companies including Yelp and MNTN. While sales taught him valuable lessons, Sam sought a career change that would allow him to help people in a more meaningful way, leading him to pursue a role in HR at Xenium.
Outside of work, Sam is a voracious consumer of content across all mediums. He’s an avid reader with a particular love for sci-fi fantasy and classics like “Blood Meridian” and “The adventures of Kavalier and Clay.” His favorite film is Guillermo del Toro’s “The Shape of Water,” and he’s a devoted fan of the show “Severance.” Music plays a central role in his life, thanks to his father’s influence as a record store employee, giving Sam an appreciation for genres ranging from rap to country to indie alternative.
